My Story

STRAY - NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 3/23/2026:  Dexter - male - approx 1 year old - 11.0 pounds - Yorkie Reason for intake:  STRAY HOLD - ANIMAL CONTROL HAS BEEN NOTIFIED! Dexter (the name we gave him) was found in a neighbor's backyard in Greenacres on 3/20/2026.  The neighbor couldn't keep so another neighbor took the dog in until he could figure out what to do.  He posted him in a local lost and found group but no one came forward.  The dog is not chipped.  We will require PROOF that this is your dog... vet records...  pictures...  identifying markings, etc.  You will be required to reclaim your dog through animal control and pay the necessary fines once ownership is proven.  The dog is NOT at animal control.  We are holding the dog through stray hold per our partnership agreement with the city of Bossier City.  If no one comes forward by the end of stray hold, 4pm on March 26, the dog will be vetted and placed for adoption. NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS:  Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed.  Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining.   In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason.  We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption.  In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered.  Please note…  we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption.  Please wait until the dog is available for adoption.  We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link:  https://www.facebook.com/share/1B46skRWF5/ OR you can keep checking our website at www.roadtorescuela.org.  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
