Meet Deebo, the tan and white pittie puppy! Deebo arrived at the Shelter by no fault of his own – his previous guardian had to move and could not found dog friendly housing. Deebo is still very much a puppy. His previous guardian reports he has been friendly with strangers, interacted nicely with his 2 year old niece, and enjoyed playing with a husky boxer mix adult dog – chasing and wrestling! He doesn’t have much experience with felines and is still working on resisting the urge to chew on shoes as well as potty training. With patience, positive reinforcement and management (like hiding your favorite pairs of shoes), Deebo will make a great companion. Could that be with you? Deebo's adoption fee is reduced to $50 this Saint Pittie's Day - a week long celebration of our `bully` companions. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw!Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
