My Story

What an awesome mommy “Mommy” has been. She was rescued with her 4-month old kittens (Blue & Lottie) just before the FIRST of this winter’s blizzards! Until that day, she kept her two kiddos safe outdoors, and entrusted humans for food and as “friends” – all while being not much older than a kitten herself (approx. 1yo). Since arriving indoors, she’s been calm, patient, and cooperative. She is up to date on all vaccines, spayed, dewormed, has been tested for FIV/FeLV, and microchipped! A bit reserved at first, she blossoms with quiet attention. She enjoys being “near” to people she trusts, even if not immediately on your lap. If you’re sitting listening to the radio or a podcast, working on a computer, reading, or other stationary tasks --- she’ll very likely be nearby, perhaps on the bed or couch or window-sill. She’s independent but curious – she’ll flirt, and really warms up when she’s initiating social time & pets (she sweetly shows approval by giving an affectionate bump with her nose, or rubbing against your back or legs while you’re sitting nearby). She will do great with a person/home who lets her take things at her pace as she builds trust. She’s been polite and tidy. She LOVES a cardboard scritcher. She enjoys interactive play with a wand toy and “kicking” her stuffed toys. And even though we’ll often find her relaxing on a bed or gazing out the window, Mommy will certainly let her own “kitten side” show when it’s time to wrestle or zoom around with her boys Blue & Lottie… and she’ll groom them when they check in with her. Mommy would make a great companion for someone seeking a calm, comfortable presence at home… while reinforcing that she’s safe and loved. Churus and Temptations treats go a VERY long way in coaxing Mommy onto your lap, and letting her know that you're a friend. Mommy is a terrific cat for someone interested in building that bond – together! This cat can be adopted with a friend or as a single cat.   This is a courtesy listing, meaning the cat(s) are being offered for adoption by a rescuer, rescue group, or individual unaffiliated with the Brooklyn Cat Cafe or Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition.
