This gorgeous, sweet pigeon is another victim of racing. We have no idea if he was lost and then became ill, or if he was ill and then culled by his owner for being sick. Often racing lofts will cull birds they no longer want (either because they lose their racers, are born with deformities from poor breeding practices/overbreeding, or because the bird becomes sick or injured), so William could have been cast out because the owner no longer wanted to care for the bird. Whatever the reason, William was found extremely ill, and even now his prognosis is very guarded.
