My Story
Meet Lloyd! Lloyd found his way to Longmeadow after his previous owner could no longer care for him. This big, beautiful gelding caught our attention as soon as he came in. He had a silly personality and kind demeanor that had staff swooning! As soon as his routine quarantine ended, he was able to be evaluated by our trainers. Unfortunately, upon his evaluation, our trainers noticed a hind end lameness. Lloyd received a thorough vet exam, including radiographs of his hocks, and it was found that he had significant boney changes to his hocks. The veterinarian believes the boney changes to be caused by a congenital issue, meaning he was born with poor hock conformation. After his findings, the vet made the unfortunate decision that it is in Lloydâs best interest to be adopted as a pasture pet. He could carry a small child on his back on a leadline with a confident handler, but no adult riding for this guy!But donât let this sway your opinion of this pretty boy! Lloyd is a gentleman, both to humans and other horses! He currently lives out in a pasture with other equine buddies and tends to be in the middle of the pecking order. He stands well for our vets and our farrier and does well for catching and leading. He would be a great addition to your herd at home, or even as a buddy for a single horse!
