My Story
Meet Kellogg! This handsome man was rescued from a hoarding situation and brought to Longmeadow initially in 2014 and was adopted shortly after his arrival. He was recently returned to us when his owner moved away and is now looking for his forever home!Kellogg is a heavier-built gelding currently on a safe, supervised weight-loss plan. Due to his easy-keeper tendencies, he will require a grazing muzzle if kept on pasture. He also has a short, compact back, which can make saddle fitting more challenging; an adopter should expect to work closely with a professional to ensure his comfort.Throughout his career, Kellogg has received primarily dressage-focused training. He is soft in the bridle, responsive, and capable of quality work when he feels confident and supported.Since his transition to Longmeadow, Kellogg has shown some nervousness as he adjusts to the new environment. Under saddle, this can manifest as extra energy, making him best suited for an advanced intermediate or advanced rider who is comfortable directing a sensitive, energetic horse in a clear and positive way.Kellogg thrives with ample turnout and benefits greatly from time spent relaxing with pasture companions. He stands well for our vets and our farrier and is easy to catch in the pasture. With consistency, patience, and appropriate handling, he has the potential to flourish in a home that understands his sensitivities and appreciates his dressage background.Adoption Fee: $1,100Height: 14.1hhMaximum Carrying Weight (includes tack and rider): 190lbs
