ROCKET

Rocket came to Longmeadow after being surrendered by his previous owners in the fall oof 2025. He breezed through his routine quarantined and was evaluated by our trainers.Upon evaluation, our trainers found him to be well-trained under saddle. He neck reins and moves willingly through the walk, foxtrot, and canter. He is a strong, forward ride and currently rides in a snaffle bit, though he appears to have been ridden in a stronger bit previously. He was a bit nervous while being evaluated under saddle outside of the arena but was responsive to encouragement. He was visibly more confident while being ridden with an equine buddy nearby, which we think is due to his jitters of being in a new environment. On the ground, Rocket can be a bit pushy. We think he is still settling into life here at Longmeadow and once he has a consistent routine, we think his manners will improve. At this time, he does best with a confident, firm handler who is comfortable setting clear boundaries and reinforcing good manners. Since his recent move to the Ranch, Rocket has been working through some nervousness and clearly finds reassurance in having other horses nearby (like he does while under saddle), which has helped him adjust to his new environment.Rocket is best suited for a confident intermediate rider who is comfortable providing clear direction and consistent boundaries. He stands well for our vet and farrier and with more desensitizing, he would make a solid partner for the right rider.
