My Story
Phoebe was returned to Longmeadow in 2024 due to no fault of her own. After some time being reevaluated, this girl is ready to find her forever home!Upon evaluation, our trainers found Phoebe to be quite crabby when it came time to being groomed, saddled, and mounted. After working closely with vets, chiropractors and our farrier, the trainers came to believe the cause of this behavior stemmed from discomfort and soreness in her body caused by hoof conformation. We started Phoebe in a rehabilitation program to help improve her posture while her feet were slowly being corrected by our farrier. While in the program, our trainers noted a difference in both her attitude and comfort levels. We attempted to put her in front shoes to help her be more comfortable, but unfortunately Phoebeâs hoof wall was too weak to support shoes. It was in her best interest to remove the shoes and allow her the time she needs to grow a stronger hoof wall. In order for Phoebe to be a consistent riding horse for a future adopter, she will require front shoes, once her feet are strong enough to hold onto them.Phoebe is a sweet mare who does well in a herd. Most of the time, she tends to be in the middle of the pecking order. She is kind on the ground but has been known to try her handlers at times, which is why we believe she would do best with a confident, intermediate handler. Phoebe loves attention from humans and is VERY passionate about her treat stretches. Her floppy lower lip is sure to win you over! She is a confident lady who doesn't tend to spook easily, and does well with a confident rider.Think Pheebs is the one for you?
