My Story

Max and Ruby were surrendered to us by Animal Control in Newark.  The AC Officers were worried about these two. They had been left behind by someone who vacated an apartment and left them behind, and each one had a physical injury--  Max has just one eye, and Ruby has an injured or deformed beak. We quickly got the pair into the avian vet, and the injuries are all old and well-healed.  Ruby eats a regular seed/pellet mix, with no special diet required, and Max seems to do great, despite his blind side.  Their foster mom is just starting to try them with some fresh fruit and veggies. We consider Max and Ruby to be a bonded pair, although Ruby will put Max in his place from time to time, if he's all up in her grill and a little too much. The pair sings the prettiest budgie songs, especially when their foster family turns on the budgie tv channels for them on YouTube.  We're not sure how old these cuties are, but we're sure that their life was dark and unfair.  If you'd like to show Max and Ruby that life can be better with love and patience, please apply to adopt them today.   This group is being fostered in Howell, NJ.   Adoption requires an in-person visit-- we do not ship our birds. For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA.  As our adoptable birds are living in private volunteer homes,   we only allow approved adopters to make the required visits. If interested in adopting this pair, please visit our website  ftlob.rescuegroups.org Please read our adoption policies and fees, and complete an adoption application.
