JERRY

Hello! I can be nervous in new situations, but I become confident after having some time to adjust. I have done well approaching new people, but small children do make me nervous so I would likely do better in a home without them. Thanks for considering adopting me!Notes from my foster friends and adventure buddies:`Jerry is a calm, cheerful dog who loves to go on hikes! My husband and I have taken him out to Carolina North Forest twice and he was great. He is not a big sniffer and he doesn't stop to mark the trail, so he makes good forward progress. He is very alert visually and likes to scan to see what's going on around him. The first time we took Jerry out he pulled quite a bit on the leash, so the second time we used a harness with a chest leash attachment and that magically reduced the pulling significantly to where it wasn't an issue. We tried running with Jerry a couple of times and he seems to really love it, going straight down the trail without stopping, and staying at his trot gait. Jerry is an excellent car dog and sits quietly and calmly during the ride, just watching out the windows. He is very food motivated and sits easily for treats. Jerry has good manners on the trail and just shows friendly interest to the other people we passed, without pulling toward them. He showed friendly interest to other dogs as well. Jerry has a laid back personality that makes him fun and easy to be with.``He takes a little bit to be comfortable with you but great when he settles in!`
