Meet Alder – The Loyal Heart with a Gentle SideThis 2-year-old, unaltered male German Shepherd is calm, cooperative, and eager to connect once he’s out of his kennel. He’s easy to leash, walks nicely at your side, and remains non-reactive while out and about. He allows full handling — including checking his ears, looking in his mouth, and gentle restraint — showing just how steady and trusting he can be. His affiliative nature shines through in every interaction.Alder absolutely loves being petted and will happily roll over for belly rubs, soaking up attention with a relaxed, content demeanor. He knows “sit” and enjoys engaging with his person. He can be very jumpy when excited, so continued guidance and reinforcement of polite greetings will help him channel that enthusiasm in positive ways.Returning to the kennel is difficult for him, and he becomes very barrier reactive at that time. This appears to be frustration with the kennel environment rather than a reflection of his true personality, as he is composed and well-mannered once outside.Alder is looking for a home that understands shepherd loyalty and can provide consistency, exercise, and companionship. With stability and guidance, he will be an incredibly loving and steadfast best friend.
