My Story

Sherman (aka Shermie or Sherm) is a handsome little rat terrier mix with a heart full of love. Rescued from a busy shelter where he was too nervous to shine, he's now thriving in foster care in Northern Virginia and showing his true, gentle spirit. About 2–3 years-old and 15 lbs., Sherman is sweet, sensitive, and playful. He may need a little time to warm up to new people, but once he trusts you, he becomes a deeply loyal companion who loves being by your side. He enjoys other small dogs and has an easygoing play style. Sherman would do well with a confident canine buddy — or as an only pup soaking up all the attention. He'd really thrive in a home where someone is around most of the day to take him on walks, car rides, and playdates with his small dog friends. Sherman is progressing nicely with house-training and does well on a consistent schedule.  He has gotten along well with cats, kids and dogs of all sizes. He just needs slow introductions (and lots and lots of treats) when meeting new people and pets. With patience and love, Sherman will blossom into a devoted little shadow who bonds deeply and gives his whole heart.  For more images and video of Sherman, please visit: https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/sherman
