My Story
Colson came to Longmeadow in 2025 with severely overgrown, painful front hooves and very little prior handling. When he arrived, he needed to re-learn the basics of groundwork. Fortunately, this boy was sharp as a tack and picked up his lessons quickly. He learned to respect and respond to his handler in no time. Every now and then he still needs a gentle reminder about boundaries, but with a face that sweet, itâs hard to stay mad at the guy! Due to his prior hoof neglect, Colson needed corrective trimming from our farrier, which initially made him wary of hoof care and sensitive about having his legs handled. With patience and consistency, our groundwork team and trainers helped Colson rebuild his trust, showing him that visits from the farrier werenât something to fear. Colson has come such a long way from the stubborn, mistrusting donkey he was when he arrived. He is still working on standing nicely for our farrier and vets and will need a skilled handler to continue his training for the future. He will also need a home with a patient farrier who can help continue his desensitizing with hoof trims. Don't let this sway your opinion of this cutie. Aside from his adorable face, Colson has the funniest personality. He greets staff at the gate and loves to share the gift of his donkey bray to anyone who will listen. He currently lives in a stall and gets turned out with other minis during the day. He would be a great addition to your mini heard at home! Adoption Fee: $400Height: 32in
