My Story

Nala is a sweet girl with a heart of gold and a joyful personality that’s hard to resist. She’s a medium-energy girl who loves being around people and has been friendly with everyone she meets — adults, kids, and other dogs alike. Her happy spirit and affectionate nature make her a wonderful companion for a loving home. One of Nala’s sweetest qualities is how much she loves children. She happily cuddles up with kids and would be over the moon to have little ones to sleep beside at night. She is affectionate, gentle, and truly happiest when she’s close to her people.Nala came to us from a shelter in New Mexico after her previous owner had to surrender her due to a child’s allergies. Through no fault of her own, she found herself needing a fresh start. She’s now ready to find a family who will include her in adventures, playtime, and cozy evenings at home. She is potty trained, though like many dogs adjusting to a new environment she may have a few accidents at first while she settles in. Nala already knows the command “sit” and is eager to please. She’s currently working on “heel” and improving her leash manners. On walks she can get excited by critters and does have some prey drive, but she’s smart and continues to make progress with guidance and consistency. When the day winds down, Nala’s favorite place is right next to her people. She’s a true cuddle bug who loves attention and affection and will happily curl up for snuggles. With her loving personality, gentle nature with kids, and eagerness to learn, Nala is ready to find her forever family once and for all.Nala was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico.Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.
