Backyard chickens can make fun pets, both on and off the farm! Chickens are entertaining pets that can thrive with a companion or two even in a small backyard. Chickens live in a flock and require at least one companion so they don’t get lonely. They need a predator proof coop to sleep in, and a secure area to roam during the day. Some areas have limits on the number of chickens you may keep in your back yard, and some areas do not allow male chickens (roosters) at all.
