My Story
Noodle is a male cat who presented bright, alert, and responsive (BAR) with generalized scabies and evidence of a secondary bacterial skin infection. He is also positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). Noodle currently has significant skin disease consistent with mange, including hair loss, skin irritation, and discomfort. The secondary infection will require medical treatment, including antiparasitic therapy and antibiotics, along with supportive skin care. Because Noodle is FIV positive, his immune system may be compromised, which can make infections more difficult to resolve and may require closer monitoring and follow-up care. While many FIV-positive cats can live comfortable lives with appropriate care, the combination of generalized mange and bacterial infection requires a level of treatment and recovery support that exceeds what we can consistently provide in the shelter environment. Despite his condition, Noodle remains gentle and is doing his best while receiving supportive care. Noodle needs a safe, compassionate placement where he can receive ongoing medical treatment and a calm environment to allow his skin to heal and his comfort to improve. This pet is at risk for euthanasia due to the level of medical care required, which exceeds what we can provide in the shelter.
