My Story
Hello, I'm Chato, a male blue-fronted amazon parrot. I've lived in my current home for the past 15 years. Before that, I lived with my current owner's father-in-law until he passed away. My exact age is unknown and it's unknown if I've ever lived with other birds. I had a broken wing in the past that was not treated, and I can't fly, so I can be outside (under constant supervision). I am quite a sweet and cheerful bird who seems to currently prefer human females, but I did have a strong bond with a male in the past. I get pretty darn excited when I meet a man or anyone new really. I step-upnicely once I get to know you, I'm also good at stepping up on to a perch before I get to know you. I will mouth you with my beak, but I have not bitten. I do like head scritches when I feel it's necessary. I talk in human just a little and say Good, Hi, and Hello. I can also be quite operatic when I get excited, like when my person comes home, I say: "Hello! La la! la la laaaaa!" Then I ring like a phone! I don't play with toys much, but I'm learning foraging using my favorite treat: popcorn! As for my diet, I am not on board with eating bird pellets yet, but I love to eat healthy foods with my person at the dinner table, and I am also eating "chop" now with healthy grains and chopped raw veggies. I really want to be part of a family. If you are interested in adopting me, please go to "how to adopt" on the website and sign-up for the basic bird care class. You can see more about me at https://mickaboo.org!
