Ozzie

My name is Ozzie and I'm a red-lored amazon parrot. I'm at least 35 years old. When my human mom went to the hospital, I was all alone in the house, so her daughter contacted Mickaboo. My mom didn't want to let me go but she agreed it was best for me. I absolutely love head scritches and showers. I mostly talk in my amazon parrot language, but I can do the wolf whistle. I step-up on you hand if you insist, but I prefer not to. I yell to let you know that I don't want to, but I'm not much of a biter. I was eating a seed-based diet when I came to Mickaboo. I also ate fresh peeled apples, orange slices, and cooked potato. My favorite treat is unsalted peanuts in the shell. I've learned to eat pellets at my foster home, but you'll need to mix them with applesauce to make them tasty. I also love fresh honey mango, fresh papaya, and cooked sweet potato. I like to be partially covered at night. I talk to the other amazons in my foster home. I have cholesterol plaques in both eyes, but can still see, and there is no medical intervention needed. One of my wings droops sometimes from a break that has healed. The avian certified vet says I don't have arthritis or atherosclerosis. I'm looking for a warm place to land for my golden years.

UPDATE: After 3 months in foster care, I'm feeling comfortable here and I like to come out of my cage and hang-out on top. I am also moving around my cage more instead of staying in one place. I love it when one of the resident amazons comes over to visit me and we groom each other. I enjoy the company of other amazon parrots. My foster mom has known several amazon parrots, and she says I'm the sweetest one that she has ever known!
