About the Scottish Deerhound
The Scottish Deerhound, or simply Deerhound, is an ancient Scottish sighthound breed originally bred to course and bring down the large red deer by speed and agility. Known as the "Royal Dog of Scotland," it is a gentle, dignified, and affectionate giant with a quiet demeanor in the home but a fierce, determined drive when hunting. It is one of the most gentle and noble of breeds, forming deep bonds with its family while remaining reserved with strangers.
