About the Rhodesian Ridgeback
The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a large hound breed originally developed in Southern Africa by Boer farmers to hunt large game, most notably lions, by holding them at bay, earning the nickname "African Lion Hound." Distinguished by the unique ridge of hair running along its back in the reverse direction, it is a loyal, intelligent, and strong-willed companion, known for its protective instincts, reserved nature with strangers, and affectionate devotion to its family.
