About the Lapinporokoira

The Lapinporokoira, or Finnish Lapponian Dog, is a traditional Spitz herding breed from Lapland, specifically developed by the Sami people for herding and guarding reindeer. It is closely related to the Finnish Lapphund but is generally leaner, with a shorter coat and a more serious, focused working temperament. Renowned for its intelligence, independence, and ability to work tirelessly in harsh Arctic conditions, it forms a strong bond with its handler and is reserved with strangers.
