About the Basenji
The Basenji is an ancient hunting breed originating from Central Africa, known as the "barkless dog" for its unique larynx shape that produces unusual yodel-like vocalizations called "baroos" instead of typical barks. Prized for its intelligence, independence, and cat-like cleanliness, it was used by local tribes to flush game into nets and control vermin. This small, graceful sighthound is alert, affectionate with its family, but can be aloof with strangers and possesses a strong prey drive.
